Overly Realistic
by Wilozyx
Overly Realistic is a server-required progression mod that makes survival slower and more demanding, with cooperative aspects built into its mechanics and advancements.
What it does
The mod replaces vanilla advancements with its own progression tree, so each milestone is described in game and players can see what comes next without a wiki. Its progression is intentionally slower and more difficult, and it pushes players toward working together through medium realism rather than solo play. Its design draws on the civilization-simulation ideas of Civilization's Beginnings and a video by Joyful about simulating civilizations in Minecraft.
Players track temperature, thirst, sanity, stamina, hygiene, vitality and several other stats, and their genetics influence movement speed, attack damage and height. A customization menu appears when a character spawns in. The mod is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, with files for 26.2 and builds covering 1.21.6 – 26.2. It is a server-side requirement: players can join with it installed or without it, while the server must run it. The code is released under the CC0 1.0 Universal license and is not open source. Normal respawning for Overly-Realistic and Disable aggressive animals for Overly-Realistic both depend on it.

How it compares
Zoom Extended is a client-side only mod under a custom license, published for 1.21.1 – 26.3 with Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt files, so it changes nothing on the server. Slow Mining is also server-required, client optional and MIT licensed, with files for 1.21 – 26.1.2 on the same four loaders. Marxx's_Recipes_Plus is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later, runs on client and server, and targets 1.20.1 – 26.1.2 on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge without Quilt.
