Beta Recipes
by Wilozyx
Beta Recipes restores the crafting and smelting recipes from the Minecraft Beta releases, replacing the modern ones on current versions.
What it does
Recipes for wool, slabs, ladders, fences, doors, signs, books, dyes and golden apples are changed to match the Beta outputs. Dyed wool is crafted from white wool and a dye item, and wool colors such as blue, brown and black take lapis lazuli, cocoa beans or ink sacs. Spruce, birch and oak logs turn into four oak planks, and experience smelting is included. Smooth stone slabs are made from regular stone, and stone buttons come from two stacked stone blocks.
Several newer recipes are disabled so the Beta versions are the ones players can craft. Some outputs differ from vanilla: slab recipes yield three slabs instead of six, sign and wooden door recipes yield one item, and a fence built from six sticks gives two fences. Flint and steel, mushroom stew, chest minecarts and furnace minecarts keep their shaped recipes, and purple, light gray, gray, pink, lime, light blue and magenta dyes come from the combinations the Beta game used.
Beta Recipes is a server-side mod, so server owners install it and players can join without it. The data pack version covers the same recipe changes. Files are published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and the 1.19 – 1.21.8 range is supported in 21 release versions. The mod is released under CC0 1.0 Universal and is not open source.
