Undeepslated replaces the deepslate layer underground with regular stone, changing where ores generate in the overworld.

What it does

Below the upper cave zone, the world normally generates deepslate blocks and deepslate ores. In the overworld, the mod swaps deepslate for ordinary stone between Y -64 and Y 0 by editing the noise settings, so ore features are placed inside that stone. It is a world generation mod and also works as a datapack, and it only alters the overworld's noise settings and configured and placed ore features. Other biomes, structures and features are left untouched, so changes to them still work as usual.

The server needs the mod, while clients may leave it out; players join without installing it. Files are published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, plus a data pack, for game versions 1.18 – 1.21.11. The license is CC0 1.0 Universal, and the project is not open source.

Key features

  1. Stone instead of deepslate

    Underground layers from Y -64 to 0 generate as regular stone rather than deepslate.

  2. Ores placed in stone

    Ore features are placed in the regular stone, so the same ores appear without any deepslate variants.

  3. Narrow overworld change

    Only the overworld's noise settings and ore features are altered, leaving biomes, structures and other features as they are.
