Alpha Recipes
by Wilozyx
Alpha Recipes restores the crafting and smelting recipes that Minecraft Alpha used, replacing many of the modern shaped recipes on servers that install it.
What it does
Alpha Recipes brings back crafting and smelting recipes from early Minecraft, so that newer recipes can be disabled and the older forms take their place. Several outputs change: a smooth stone slab recipe yields 3 slabs rather than 6, ladders yield 1 rather than 3, signs and wooden doors yield 1 rather than 3, and fences made from 6 sticks yield 2 rather than 3. Golden apples are crafted from gold blocks rather than ingots, books need 3 paper stacked vertically, and only oak logs make planks in the early way. Pressure plates need 3 stone or plank blocks rather than 2.
The mod is a server-side recipe set. Server owners install it on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge or Quilt, and players can join without installing anything, since only the server must run it. Files are published for 21 release versions, 1.19 – 1.21.8, and the latest file, 1.0.1+mod, targets 1.21.8. Snapshot builds are also published. The mod is released under CC0 1.0 Universal, which places it in the public domain, so anyone may use it, include it in their own modpacks or datapacks, edit it, tweak it or share it. It is not open source under a conventional license.

How it compares
Stonecuttable Smooth Stone is server required with client optional, for 1.20 – 26.2, and is released as All rights reserved. More Crafting Recipes! is also server required with client optional, with files for 1.20.1 – 1.20.4 and an All rights reserved license. Craft Slabs Back Into Blocks is server-side only, open source under the MIT License, and covers 1.16.5 – 26.2, so it is a different kind of recipe change.
