Vision Goggles
Vision Goggles adds wearable goggles to Minecraft, with night vision, thermal imaging and a battery-driven HUD, and the mod is built for Fabric and Forge on 1.20.1.
What it does
Vision Goggles adds goggles that change how the screen renders, including realistic night thermal vision with shader-like effects. Each goggle has a battery that players recharge with compatible power items, and a dedicated HUD element shows the energy level in real time. Goggles take damage in combat, and as durability falls below 30% cracks appear on the screen tinted to match the active vision mode. At 85% damage the system begins to show digital artifacts and visual glitches.
Vision modes cover tactical night vision with a light-amplification view, a high-contrast blue thermal filter, and a tactical orange mode meant for clarity. Players can pick color themes such as classic green, white phosphor and digital cyan. A specialized module removes underwater fog and adds a cyan tint for clear sight under water. A Vital Monitor reports saturation levels and coordinates, converting between the Nether and the Overworld automatically.
Installation needs Accessories, Architectury API, Cloth Config API and Curios API. Mod Menu is optional. A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too. Files are published for Fabric and Forge on 1.20.1 only, and the code is licensed under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, so it is open source with public source code and an issue tracker.
Key features
Battery-powered goggles
Goggles run on a battery that players charge with compatible power items, and the HUD shows the level.
Night and thermal vision
Tactical night vision amplifies light in total darkness, and a thermal filter highlights hostile entities in dark areas.
Selectable color themes
The display can use classic green, white phosphor or digital cyan, and the tactical orange mode favors clarity.
Durability and visual damage
Combat wears the goggles down, and cracks, tinting and glitches on the screen track the remaining durability.
