Unruled API
by Nerjal_Nosk
Unruled API gives other mods a way to create new kinds of gamerules and set them per dimension, and it runs on the server alone.
What it does
Vanilla gamerules are limited to integers and booleans. This library lets developers register gamerules of other types, including floating point, long, double, string, text and enum-driven values, and attach validators that restrict which values are accepted, such as only odd integers or a fixed numeric range. Registration helpers in the com.nerjal.unruled api UnruledApi class cover both the new types and quick registration of vanilla-style gamerules.
Per-dimension overrides are the other main addition. The gamerule-override command lets a player list, get, set and unset overrides for the current dimension or a named one, and an override applies only to the dimension it was set in. The mod has no client part, so a server running it is enough, and players join without installing anything. Dependencies: none are listed. It is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt across 32 release versions, 1.18 – 26.3, and is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later, so the code is open source.
From release 2.0 on, which targets Minecraft 1.21.11 and newer, the wrapper methods in the UnruledApi class are considered outdated, and game code should call the gamerule methods themselves instead.
Key features
Custom gamerule types
New gamerules can hold floating point, long, double, string, text or enum values, going beyond vanilla integers and booleans.
Value validators
Validators can be added when a gamerule is registered, limiting which values are accepted, for example odd integers only.
Per-dimension overrides
A gamerule can be overridden for one dimension, and the override applies only in the dimension it was set in.
Gamerule-override command
Players can list, get, set and unset overrides for the current dimension or a specified dimension.
