HT's TreeChop
by hammertater
Players chopping a tree with HT's TreeChop break one block at a time, and the whole tree falls after enough hits on any of its logs.
What it does
Breaking a single log counts as one chop. The tree only comes down after a set number of chops, and larger trees need more of them in total, though each individual block takes fewer. Chops made on different blocks of the same tree all add up toward felling it, so several players can work on one trunk together. Mushrooms and fungi are included, and leaves are removed in a sensible way once the tree falls.
Installation needs Forge Config API Port on Forge and NeoForge. Fabric is supported with the same mod, and the files are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 16 release versions, 1.12.2 – 1.21.1. Servers that run it need every player to install it too. The mod is listed as a required dependency of Dragged's Simulated Tree Chopper.
Key features
Chop-based felling
A tree is removed after repeated breaks on any of its blocks rather than one block at a time.
Chop count scales with size
Bigger trees require more chops in total, but each block takes fewer hits, so large trees stay manageable.
Shared chopping
Hits from different players and different blocks of the same tree all contribute to bringing it down.
Quiet, leaf-aware breaking
Big trees come down without the noise of mass block breaking, and leaves are removed intelligently after the fall.
Works without an axe
No axe is needed, though felling takes longer by hand than with one.

Use cases
Clearing forests
Players clearing land for building or farming can take down a whole grove with fewer block-by-block breaks.
Cooperative felling
Groups on a multiplayer server can split up a large tree and finish it together.
Who it’s for: Players who want trees to come down in chops instead of single blocks, and server owners who run survival worlds where clearing timber is a common task.
How it compares
TreeCap is server-side only, licensed under the MIT License and published for Forge and NeoForge across 1.21.1 – 1.21.11, so players can join without installing it. TimberVein is client and server, published for Fabric and Forge across 1.18.2 – 1.20.3, and is not open source. Nootov!chopper is server-side only and open source under the MIT License, but only for Forge 1.20 – 1.20.2.

What the author says
Allows trees to be chopped down by repeatedly breaking a single block. The whole tree will only break after a certain number of chops, and bigger trees require more chops. Inspired by mods like Treecapitator. _*By default, the number of chops required to fell a tree is computed logarithmically. Some example numbers…
