Tide Extra Compatibility

by SilentAutopsy

Tide Extra Compatibility adds fish, loot tables and crates from more than thirty other mods to the Tide fishing system, so anglers can catch new species in familiar biomes.

What it does

Tide Extra Compatibility is a server-side addition to Tide 2. It lists fish, junk and treasure items from third-party mods, and each entry is tied to the biomes where it can be caught. Entries cover a range of mods, from Upgrade Aquatic and Spawn to Alex's Caves, Deep Aether and Sully's Mod, and many fish are added in named groups, such as the Sweetish Fish for Alex's Caves.

The mod also adds fish from the Deep Void and Advent of Ascension collections, which are still marked as coming soon. Its loot entries include items from Fintastic and Neptunium Nugget from Aquaculture 2 as treasure, and the crate system from Tide lets players fish up Neptune's Bounty. A known visual bug makes that crate invisible while it is pulled from the water. Tide Extra Compatibility requires Tide 2, and the optional mods it can use include Alex's Caves, Alex's Mobs, Aquaculture 2, BetterEnd and Spawn.

The environment is server required and client optional: the server must run the mod, while players may add it without any change in behavior. Builds are published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt across five game versions, 1.20.1 – 1.21.5, and the code is under the MIT License, which is not open source.

Each new fish is linked to the biomes where it can be caught, and some species appear only in specific water types.

  3. Unusual Catch enchantment

  4. Crate integration

Neptune's Bounty can be fished up through the crate system of Tide, alongside Neptunium Nugget as a treasure item.

Questions

Does Tide Extra Compatibility need Tide 2?

Yes. Tide 2 is a required dependency, and the compatibility mod only adds entries to its fishing loot.

Do players need Tide Extra Compatibility installed?

No. The server must run it, while players may leave it out.

Why is Neptune's Bounty invisible when it is pulled from the water?

The crate extraction causes a visual bug. The crate appears normally once it drops on the ground, and the author notes that Tide may fix this in a future version.
