Stack Refill
by Serilum
Players who empty a hand mid-fight or while building get a replacement from the inventory automatically, and Stack Refill is the server-side mod that does it.
What it does
When the last item of a stack in the main hand is used up, the mod pulls a matching item from the inventory into the hand. This covers weapons in combat, tools that break, blocks placed from a stack, food eaten, potions drunk, thrown tridents and splash potions, milk buckets drunk and fishing rods that break. Modded blocks are expected to work as well.
Stack Refill must be installed on the server, because the refilling happens there, and every player also needs it on the client. Players can turn it off for themselves with /stackrefill. The config controls which kinds of item are refilled, and it includes an item blacklist and a whitelist that accept namespaced or unnamespaced ids. Refilling from other hotbar slots is off by default. The mod depends on Collective, which must be installed alongside it, and it is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt across 29 release versions, 1.16.5 – 26.3. The code is not open source, and the source and issue tracker are public.
The mod is released under All rights reserved and was first published on 2022-08-31, with the latest update on 2026-10-13.
Key features
Refill after combat and tool use
A sword or shovel that runs out is swapped for a matching item during combat or digging.
Refill when placing blocks
The last block of a stack in the hand is swapped for another of the same kind, so building continues without a pause.
Refill after eating and drinking
Food, potions and milk buckets are replaced when the item in hand is consumed.
Configurable item lists
Separate options cover blocks and items, tools and weapons, buckets, and a blacklist and whitelist of item ids.
Per-player opt-out
Each player can switch the refill off with a single command, without a change to the server config.
