SmartCords
by Zolloww
SmartCords shows converted coordinates on a minimal HUD, so players moving between the Nether and the Overworld can see where a portal leads without opening the F3 screen.
What it does
Coordinates scale differently in the Nether, where one block there covers eight blocks in the Overworld. SmartCords calculates the converted position automatically and keeps it visible on screen, which makes it easier to line up a portal with a target location in the other dimension. The overlay is intended as a lightweight utility that stays out of the way while the player works.
Instead of reading the cluttered debug screen, a player sees only the essential coordinate information in a clean display. The overlay works in both dimensions and avoids opening the F3 menu for each check. Fabric API must be installed alongside SmartCords, which targets Fabric only.
Players join without it, since only the server has to run the mod. Files cover 1.21 and 1.21.1, with 1.0.0 for 1.21.1 as the latest build, released on 2026-03-14 under All rights reserved and not open source.
Key features
Coordinate overlay
A clean coordinate display appears on screen, so players do not have to open the F3 debug screen to read their position.
Nether to Overworld conversion
Coordinates are converted between the Nether and the Overworld automatically, using the eight-to-one scale between the dimensions.
Minimal HUD design
The display uses a minimal aesthetic that keeps the screen uncluttered while the player moves through terrain.
Quick reading while travelling
Players can check converted coordinates at any time while travelling, without stopping to open a separate menu.

Use cases
Who it’s for: Players who travel between the Nether and the Overworld often, and server owners who want a lightweight coordinate overlay on a Fabric server without requiring a client install.
How it compares
Nether Coordinates is a Fabric mod for 1.21.11 and is client-side only, so it runs on the player's side and does not cover the server. It is released under All rights reserved and is not open source. Simple Hud is a Fabric mod for 1.21 – 1.21.1 that is client-side only, released under the MIT License and not open source, so it changes the client HUD rather than the server. Death Coordinates is server-side only for 1.21 – 1.21.1, released under CC-BY-1.0 and not open source, and it reports where a player died instead of showing live coordinates.
