Redstone Torch Random Tick
by 2No2Name
Redstone Torch Random Tick lets burnt out redstone torches recover through random ticks, so a torch that burned out can return to working on its own.
What it does
Redstone torches burn out when they are overloaded, and normally stay off until a player replaces them. This mod sets up random ticks so that a burnt out torch can reactivate after a while, letting a circuit that lost a torch restart without manual repair.
Only torches that are not on a scheduled tick are reactivated. Torches already tied to a scheduled update keep their normal behavior, which avoids breaking redstone contraptions that depend on timing. The mod is built for Fabric and Quilt and changes behavior only on the server side.
Files cover 29 release versions, 1.19 – 26.3. Builds exist for both Fabric and Quilt, with 1.1.0 for 26.3 as the latest file on each loader, published 2026-04-03. The code is not open source; a public source repository and issue tracker are linked from the project page, and the license is All rights reserved.
Key features
Random tick reactivation
Burnt out redstone torches receive random ticks and switch back on once a tick reactivates them.
Non-scheduled torches only
Torches that are waiting on a scheduled tick are left alone, so timed circuits keep their timing.
Contraption safety
Only torches that burned out without a scheduled update are affected, which limits the changes to a narrow case.
Server-side behavior
The change runs on the server, so players connecting to it need no extra installation.

Use cases
Recovering redstone builds
A farm or machine that loses a torch to overload can restart without the player replacing the torch by hand.
Long-running servers
Server owners who run automated circuits for long periods can let burnt out torches recover between visits.
Who it’s for: Server owners and survival players who run redstone machines and want burnt out torches to recover on their own. The mod is installed on the server side on Fabric or Quilt.
How it compares
Torch Damage is a server-side option built for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, published for 26.2 – 26.3 under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only and not open source. Redstone Torch Equality covers Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt for 1.21 – 1.21.11, is server required with an optional client, and is licensed as All rights reserved. This mod stays on Fabric and Quilt and targets the broader 1.19 – 26.3 range.
