Rail Placement Fix
by 2No2Name
Rail Placement Fix changes how rails snap when a player builds track, so a new piece can be placed exactly where the player aims it.
What it does
Sneaking while looking at a corner block places a curved rail, and sneaking while aiming at the top side of a block places a sloped rail, the way a top-side slab is set. Neighboring rails keep their shape when a new rail is placed beside them, which lets players draw a rail pattern without reshaping the track already built.
The mod is server required and client optional: the server must run it, while players may add it to get the same placement on their own side. Builds are published for Fabric and Quilt across 34 release versions, 1.17 – 26.3, and the latest file is 1.2.0 for 26.3. The code is not open source, and all rights are reserved.
Key features
Precise rail placement
Rails can be placed at the exact position the player is aiming at, instead of snapping to the default piece.
Curved rails from corners
Sneaking while looking at a corner block places a curved rail in that corner.
Sloped rails on top faces
Sneaking against the top side of a block places a sloped rail, in the same way a top-side slab is placed.
Neighbors keep their shape
Placing a new rail beside existing ones leaves the shape of the neighboring rails unchanged.

Use cases
Building rail patterns
Players laying out branching or looping track can extend an existing network without reshaping the rails already in place.
Who it’s for: Players who build rail networks in survival or creative worlds, and server owners who want consistent rail placement for every player on a Fabric or Quilt server.
How it compares
Copper Powered Rails is a Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt mod for 1.17 – 26.2, server required and client optional, under the MIT License, and it is not open source. Gooder Rails is server-side only, open source under the MIT License, and built for Fabric across its own release range. Meo's BetterRailPlacement is server-side only, open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, and made for 1.21.1 on Fabric alone. Rail Placement Fix covers Fabric and Quilt, so it reaches a wider set of loaders than Gooder Rails or BetterRailPlacement.
