Primity
by Baunilla
Primity is a game mechanics mod that slows the early game by withholding stone tools and rewarding flint and cast iron progression.
What it does
Primity makes the first stages of survival last longer by changing how tools are made. Trees must be punched for wood, a wooden pickaxe breaks quickly, and stone tools are replaced by flint parts such as a flint axe head found in gravel. Flint tools can break logs, while logs drop only when broken with an axe. Iron becomes reachable through cast iron, which is smelted in a furnace, and a blast furnace is needed for iron nuggets.
Several block hardness values are raised, and the loot tables of some blocks are changed to match. The mod is configurable and individual options can be disabled. It requires Fabric API on Fabric, Kotlin for Forge and YetAnotherConfigLib (YACL) on every loader, and Fabric Language Kotlin on Fabric or Quilt. Primity runs on client and server, and is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt across the 1.20 – 26.3 range under a custom license that is not open source.
Key features
Flint tool chain
Flint axe heads and sticks combine into a flint axe, which replaces early stone-level tools.
Stone tools removed
Wooden and stone tools are disabled, so blocks that were broken with them drop items differently.
Cast iron smelting
Raw iron is smelted into cast iron in a furnace, then into ingots and nuggets, slowing access to iron.
Raised block hardness
Several blocks take longer to break, which lengthens early progression and the time spent in each stage.

Use cases
Slower early game
Players who find the first hours of survival too rushed can stay with flint tools and cast iron for longer.
Who it’s for: Players who want a more primitive start to a survival world, and server owners who want to control how quickly players reach iron tools.
How it compares

Stone to Iron Tools Upgrades [PurpurPack] is server required with client optional, open source under the MIT License and published for 1.20 – 26.2. Primity runs on all four loaders, which Tool Progression does not.

What the author says
Increases difficulty by slowing down the early stage progression with flint tools and cast iron. No tree punching. Block hardness increase. Minecraft's early progression feels too rushed to me, punch wood > wooden pickaxe (breaks 3 stones and throws it away) > stone pickaxe > already have access to iron.
