Player Tracking
by Serilum
With Player Tracking, a player can build a tracker block structure that points toward another player's position on a server.
What it does
Player Tracking adds trackers that locate other players. A tracker is built from Obsidian, Gold Blocks and a Diamond Block arranged in a fixed layout, and its built-in help pages walk through the construction in five steps. Once a tracker is working, its owner can follow another player's position across the world.
The mod was first used on a Minecraft PvP server and later spread to many raiding servers that copied the idea. Its tracking is meant for servers with hardcore or no-rules settings, where finding an enemy base by exploring is close to impossible without it. Collective is required and must be installed alongside the mod.
Player Tracking runs on the server only, so players join without installing anything. It is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, with files covering 1.16.5 – 26.3 across 29 release versions. The latest file is 26.3.0-3.7-fabric+forge+neo for 26.3, released 2026-10-02. The mod is released under All rights reserved and is not open source, though its source code and issue tracker are public.
Key features
Tracker blocks
Trackers are built from Obsidian, Gold Blocks and a Diamond Block in a set layout, and they point toward a chosen player.
In-game help pages
A five-page tracking help book explains the materials, the build layout and how to track a player by name.
Single-attempt layout
The build layout is shown in the help pages, and a tracker can only be made once a correct layout is in place.
Raiding server focus
The tracking is intended for hardcore and no-rules servers, where locating an enemy base is otherwise hard.

Use cases
Who it’s for: Server owners running PvP or raiding servers, and players who take part in those servers, will find the mod relevant. Players on servers that do not use tracking do not need it.
How it compares
PlayerTracker is a Fabric-only server-required mod for 1.20.5 – 26.2, open source under the MIT License, and clients may optionally run it. MCFaceTracking is open source under the MIT License and runs on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt for 1.20.1 – 1.21.4, with either side able to run it alone. Player Tracking differs from both in being server-side only and released under All rights reserved.
