What it does

Normal1.8zer reverts a set of vanilla changes made after the older releases. Swimming and crawling are disabled, the sneaking hitbox returns to its earlier form through a fix for MC-159163, and buckets behave as they did in older builds. Beds bounce as well. Sprint resetting is readded for 1.21.5 and later, so the movement feels closer to earlier versions.

The mod is aimed at players who join servers that expect the older movement from a newer client. Its sword blocking changes follow the approach of NoChangeTheGame, which the author reused for Hypixel's vanilla sword blocking in 1.21.4 and later, and it draws on code from Animatium. Installing it requires Cloth Config API, Fabric API and Vidalia, and Mod Menu is optional. Settings are reached through normalizerconfig when Mod Menu is installed.

Only the client needs the mod, so servers run without it. It is released under the MIT License and is open source. Files cover 1.21.4, 1.21.5, 1.21.6, 1.21.7 and 1.21.11, with 1.3.3+1.21.11 for 1.21.11 as the latest Fabric file.

What the author says

Hypixel has recently added sword blocking on vanilla 1.21.4+, removing the need for a lot of changes in NoChangeTheGame. To reflect on that change, I've created this mod which uses much of the same code as NoChangeTheGame, but with a heavy reliance on Animatium ( for the rest of the features.
