Modest Magic
by Baisylia
With Modest Magic, a crafting altar and four pedestals replace the enchanting table and turn items into new gear, enchantments or summoned mobs.
What it does
Modest Magic is a magic overhaul built around a new enchanting system. Its altar takes the place of the enchanting table, and pedestals placed around it hold the items used in each recipe. Once the items are set, a player shift-right-clicks the altar to craft, and a redstone pulse can trigger the same activation. Altar recipes are data driven, so pack makers can change what is consumed and what is produced, and the summoned mob's data can randomize its enchantments.
Enchanting tablets replace enchanted books. A tablet is crafted through the altar and then applied to tools at a smithing table. Each tablet carries one or more enchantments from a pool, and the tablet pool covers a wide set of tool and weapon effects with their own levels. Placed blocks connect to each other automatically, so the altar and its pedestals form a working setup when set up in the right direction.
The mod is client and server, so the server and every player need it. Files are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 8 release versions, 1.19.2 – 26.3, under All rights reserved, and the mod is not open source. Its optional dependencies are Cloth Config API and EMI.
