Modest Mining

by Baisylia

Modest Mining extends mining with tool systems, a crafting table variant, and archaeology-style drops, and it is built for Forge and NeoForge.

ForgeNeoForgeClient and serverAll rights reserved1.19.2 – 1.21.1

What it does

Modest Mining changes how mining tools and ores behave. Tools are made from ingots and gems, and a set of weapon types joins the tool tiers: javelins work like tridents, while hammers are slow but strong. Ores and dusts can be crushed into other materials, and some vanilla drops are reworked, such as nuggets, coal chunks and rotten flesh that smelts into a new item.

The mod adds two crafting blocks. One resembles a crafting table with furnace fueling and accepts shapeless and shaped recipes. The other runs the opposite way, taking a single input and offering nine outputs, and redstone power drives its spinning and crushing of items. Amethyst shards and diamond shards gain compacted storage and nugget-style uses.

Modest Mining runs on Client and server, so the server and every player need it. Files are published for Forge and NeoForge across 1.19.2 – 1.21.1, with 1.4.4-1.20.1 for 1.20.1 and 1.4.6-1.21.1 for 1.21.1 as the latest builds. It is released under All rights reserved and is not open source, although the source code is public.

Key features

Mining tools are crafted from ingots and gems, and javelins and hammers extend the tool tiers with new weapon behavior.

  2. Two crafting blocks

A furnace-fueled crafting table accepts shapeless and shaped recipes, and a reverse table provides one input and nine outputs.

  3. Ore crushing

Redstone-powered machinery crushes ores and items into dusts and other materials.

  4. Reworked drops

Nuggets, coal chunks, amethyst and diamond shards, and rotten flesh gain new smelting and compacting uses.

Use cases

Mining-focused survival

Players who build around ore processing can use the crushing and crafting blocks to reduce manual steps.

Who it’s for: Survival players and server owners who want more mining progression and ore processing without reworking the whole game. Modpack authors can also include it, provided they follow its All rights reserved license.

Questions

Does Modest Mining need to be installed on the server?

Yes. Installation covers the server and each player's game.

Forge and NeoForge. Files exist for 1.20.1 on Forge and 1.21.1 on NeoForge among the five release versions in the 1.19.2 – 1.21.1 range.

Are the optional dependencies required?

No. Reliable Remover and YetAnotherConfigLib (YACL) are optional, and Fundamentally Fixed requires Modest Mining.
