Merry Snow
by MerrySnow
Merry Snow changes how snow and ice behave in the world, adding weather options that vanilla Minecraft does not offer.
What it does
Snow-related mechanics are the focus of Merry Snow. Biomes can be set to snow weather even where vanilla deserts stay dry, and a configuration option can make snow fall across an entire dimension, using the weather command as the trigger. Biome-level settings choose whether a biome gets snow, rain or no weather, for example snow in forests and rain in oceans while jungles stay clear.
Two further options control the ground itself. One enables forced snow accumulation across a dimension, and another enforces ice freezing, so a frozen ocean can be kept from freezing or made to freeze. Snow accumulation only takes effect while weather is active. Merry Snow requires Cloth Config API on Fabric and Forge Config API Port on Forge. It runs on client and server and is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, with files for 1.20.1 – 1.21.10.
Key features
Biome weather control
Each biome can be assigned snow, rain or no weather, so snow can appear in places where vanilla never produces it.
Dimension-wide snow
A single option makes snow fall across the whole dimension, and the weather command can be used to start it.
Snow and ice accumulation
Forced snow accumulation and ice freezing can be enabled per dimension, and biome lists decide which biomes take part.
Sunny snow factor
A value sets how clear skies and snowfall share the sky, from full clarity through light, moderate and heavy snow, and it can be changed in game with M and the mouse wheel.
Client-side weather toggle
A hotkey temporarily disables the weather effects on the client, which is useful for checking how the sky looks without snow.

How it compares
Fake Weather is a client-side only mod for Fabric and Forge, under the MIT License, with files for 1.16.5 – 26.2, so it changes only what a player sees. Snow Accumulation is a server-side only mod for Fabric and Forge, with All rights reserved and files for 1.12.2 – 1.21.11, so players join it without installing anything. Merry Snow differs by running on both client and server and being open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only.
