Marketplace
by AvatarKage
Marketplace lets players buy and sell items through a villager trading system, and the mod is inspired by the Bedrock Marketplace.
What it does
Players trade items with villagers under a trading system that the mod extends, so that items can be bought and sold without rebuilding an economy from scratch. The mod is aimed at more sustainable living in a world, and it is built to stay close to vanilla gameplay.
Unlike many store-style mods, Marketplace does not ask players to collect items and hand them over by right-clicking an unemployed villager to open an exact trade. Trades are supported through a datapack module, so only the items that a pack declares can be traded. Server owners can use Vault plugins alongside it.
Marketplace runs on the server alone, so players join without installing it. Files are published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, with builds for 1.20.1 – 1.21.6 and the latest 2.0.0-beta for 1.21.6 released on 2025-07-01. The mod is All rights reserved and is not open source.
Key features
Villager trading
Villagers offer trades for the items players sell, so buying and selling runs through the existing trading screen.
Datapack-based trades
A datapack module defines which items are supported for trading, with tag-like entries for specific mods.
Vault plugin support
Server owners can connect Marketplace to Vault plugins for shared currency handling.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.
Only full game releases are shown. This mod publishes no snapshot builds.
Use cases
Server economies
Server owners who want buying and selling without giving up vanilla trading can run Marketplace on the server alone.
Who it’s for: Server owners who want a light economy on vanilla-friendly servers, and players who prefer to relax and build rather than grind for trades.
How it compares
Survival Economy is a Forge and NeoForge economy mod, closed source under All rights reserved, with files for 1.20.1 – 1.21.1 and a client and server environment. SDM Market is licensed under the MIT License, covers Fabric, Forge and NeoForge for 1.20.1 – 1.21.1, and also runs on both sides. No Villager Trading is server-side only and licensed under the MIT License, with files for 1.21 – 1.21.4, so it covers fewer versions than Marketplace.
