Chicken Jockey
by AvatarKage
Chicken Jockey lets baby zombies seek out nearby chickens and ride them, and the rider-and-mount pairing is server-side only.
What it does
The mod changes how baby zombies behave: they look for chickens close by and mount them, creating the familiar chicken jockey combination. Zombies, zombie villagers, husks, zombie piglins and other supported undead take part in this behavior, and the mod can also be paired with other jockey-style setups. Because it runs on the server alone, players join without installing anything.
Chicken Jockey requires Jockey API, which must be installed next to it. Two other mods build on it: Chicken Jockey (Earth2Java Compat) and Chicken Jockey (Zombie Variants Compat). The mod is published for Forge and NeoForge, with builds covering 1.20 – 1.21.8 across 12 release versions, and it is released under All rights reserved, so the code is not open source. Its latest files, 1.0.1 for 1.21.8, were released on 2025-08-08, after a first release on 2025-04-10.
Beyond the baby zombie and chicken pairing, the mod includes jockey variants for other mobs, such as bedrock and dolphin jockeys, and a spider jockey option. Each variant works on the same rider-and-mount basis, so server owners can choose which pairings fit their world.

How it compares
Remove "Lava Chicken" Music Disc is open source under the MIT License and runs on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt for 1.21.7 – 1.21.11, with the server required and the client optional. Zombie Take Over is server-side only and not open source, with files for Forge and NeoForge across 1.20.1 – 1.21.5. Chickens Hatch Now needs both client and server, uses All rights reserved and covers 1.20.1 – 26.2.

What the author says
Inspired by 'A Minecraft Movie', this mod makes baby zombies seek out nearby chickens so they can become jockeys. Zombies, zombie villagers, husks, and zombie piglins are all supported! Will drop the 'Lava Chicken' disc on defeat (1.21.8+).
