Numismatic Overhaul

by Wisp Forest

Numismatic Overhaul gives Minecraft a currency system modeled loosely on the one in Terraria, with a purse in the player's Inventory that holds the money.

FabricQuiltClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.18 – 1.21.1

What it does

Money enters the purse from three sources: slaying raiders, wandering through the world and its old ancient ruins, and trading with Villagers. The currency replaces emeralds as the medium of exchange in Villager trades, and the trade lists have been rebalanced to give trading more variety.

A Shop block opens a Villager-style screen where the owner sets the trades. When another player buys from it, the earned money is held in the shop and the owner can collect it later, which allows player-to-player item trading. The mod runs on client and server, so every player needs it and so does the server, and it requires Fabric API and oωo (owo-lib) on Fabric. Cardinal Components API is bundled inside the mod.

Files are published for Fabric and Quilt across 14 release versions, 1.18 – 1.21.1, and the mod is open source under the MIT License.

Key features

  1. Currency purse

A purse in the Inventory stores the player's riches, which are gathered from kills, exploration and trading.

  2. Reworked Villager trades

Villagers trade the mod's currency instead of emeralds, and their offers have been rebalanced.

  3. Player shops

A shop screen lets the owner configure trades, and the earnings from purchases can be retrieved by the owner.

  4. Ancient ruin rewards

Exploring ancient ruins is one of the sources of currency, giving players a reason to search the world.

What the author says

Numismatic Overhaul adds a currency system to Minecraft, not too dissimilar to how Terraria does it. You have a purse in your Inventory which holds your riches - these may be obtained from killing Pillagers, exploring the world and its ancient ruins and, of course, trading with Villagers. Speaking of Villagers, these…
