Map Art Copyright

Map Art Copyright is a Fabric server mod that records which player created a filled map and controls whether that map can be copied.
What it does
The mod tracks the original author of each map the player made. A map that is recorded to its creator can be restricted, so copying it through the cartography table or duplication is blocked. Server owners set in the config whether authors may copy or transfer their maps, and whether a map may be handed over to the public domain. Once a map is transferred, anyone can copy it by hand, for example through an autocrafter.
The mod runs on the server alone, so players join without installing anything. It depends on Fabric API and bundles fabric-permissions-api, which it uses to check permissions. LuckPerms is optional and can manage those permissions on servers that run it. Files are published for Fabric 1.20.1 – 26.3, and the project is open source under the Mozilla Public License 2.0, with source code and an issue tracker publicly available.

How it compares
LockMap is a Fabric server mod for 1.21.10 under the Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial No Derivatives 4.0 license, which is not open source. Client Maps is open source under the MIT License, but it is client-side only and covers 1.20.1 – 26.3, so it does not control map copying on a server. Map-Improvements is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only and needs both client and server.
