Maleficium: Vampires, Magic & More!
by Mitlit
Maleficium: Vampires, Magic & More! adds magic, vampires and a set of witchcraft items to Forge and NeoForge worlds, with the vampire side covering blood, night and transformation.
What it does
Players who turn into a vampire feed on blood to survive. Blood is drawn from mobs, and the amount gained depends on each mob's health, with villagers counted as the most nutritious source. Failing to feed leads to death or desiccation. Vampires can also turn villagers into vampires, and feeding blood to other players turns them too, granting a temporary regeneration boost.
The mod gives vampires a choice of abilities to build toward. A vampire can compel mobs to obey, make mobs stand still or attack each other, move at high speed while leaving a black trail, and close its eyes to sense nearby mobs and players through smell and hearing. Using these abilities costs some blood or hunger. Villagers offer lower trade prices to vampires, and extra slots add modded items such as daylight rings. Two grimoires explain the magic: the witchcraft grimoire, crafted from a book and glowstone dust, covers general magic in Maleficium, and the vampirism grimoire, crafted from a book and rotten flesh, covers becoming and killing vampires.
The mod is client and server, so the server and every player need it. It is published for Forge and NeoForge, for Minecraft 1.20.1, and is released under All rights reserved, so it is not open source. Its source code and issue tracker are public.
