Lavender
by glisco
Lavender is a guidebook API that serves as an alternative to Patchouli, with books written in markdown and shown in game.
What it does
Books are authored with markdown and a set of special syntax that ties them into the game, and macros plus the owo-ui framework are available for more complex layouts. Entries can be grouped into categories, linked to one another, and gated behind the game's advancement system so they appear progressively. Structure and multiblock visualization helps readers follow building instructions, and every vanilla recipe type can be displayed, with a framework for custom recipe types. Books are hot reloaded, so edits appear almost at once.
Lavender requires oωo (owo-lib) and runs on Fabric and Quilt, using the client and server environment, so both the server and every player need it. Its source code and issue tracker are public, and the mod is released under the MIT License, which makes it open source. Files exist for 1.20 – 1.21.4 across eleven release versions, and the latest file for both loaders is 0.1.15+1.21.4 for 1.21.4, published on 2025-01-20. The first release was on 2024-01-15.
