Storage Labels

by MehVahdJukaar

With Storage Labels installed, a label can be attached to any solid block, and shift-clicking it with an item shows that item on the label's face.

FabricForgeNeoForgeClient and serverAll rights reserved1.18.1 – 26.1.2

What it does

The mod adds one item, the Label. It works like an item frame, but it can be attached to any surface and to any solid block regardless of shape. Clicking a label passes the interaction through to the block behind it, so a chest or barrel behind a label can still be opened. Storage Labels requires Moonlight Lib on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge. The mod runs on the client and the server, so both need it. Builds cover 1.18.1 – 26.1.2, and the latest Fabric and NeoForge files are 26.1.2-3.0.0 for 26.1.2, a beta build dated 2026-09-16.

Dyes recolor a label, and a glow ink sac makes it glow in the dark. Using a feather on a label shows the name of the item it displays. Images are pixelated and tinted to match the look of the game, and this applies to any item. Config options and texture packs can change the appearance in depth. Storage Labels is not open source and is released under All rights reserved. Its source code and issue tracker are publicly linked.

Key features

  1. Attachable labels

A label attaches to any solid block, so it can be placed on chests, shelves and walls of any shape.

  2. Item images

Shift-clicking a label with an item sets the label to show that item, which helps sort a storage system.

  3. Pass-through clicks

Clicking a label interacts with the block behind it, keeping labeled storage fully usable.

  4. Dye and glow options

Any dye changes the label color, and glow ink sacks make the label glow in the dark.

Use cases

Labeling storage systems

Players mark each chest or barrel in a sorting setup with the item it holds, so contents can be read at a glance.

Server storage hubs

Server owners use labels to mark shared storage rooms, where every connected player sees the same item images.

Who it’s for: Players who build item storage systems, and server owners who run shared storage areas. Both the server and each player need the mod for labels to appear.

How it compares
