Insomnia
by moehreag
With Insomnia installed, a bed can refuse to let a player sleep and show a message instead, a behavior the author describes as mostly preventing sleep.
What it does
Insomnia stops players from sleeping in beds under conditions set by its messages. When a bed refuses sleep, the player receives a line of text chosen from the messages included with the mod, and the bed is not used to skip the night. Messages are data-driven, so a pack or server can replace them or add new ones, and each message can be tied to a condition such as world seed, bed position or day count. A JSON entry can also use a translation key with a boolean value to decide whether that key prevents sleep, and the author notes that a message can be set to prevent sleeping entirely.
The mod also changes how spawn points are set with beds. The author notes that the spawn behavior is modified, so the usual bed-clicking routine no longer works in the same way. The included messages are a sample set, and the author expects players to write their own for the worlds they run. Insomnia is released under All rights reserved and is not open source, though its source code and issue tracker are public. Files are published for Fabric and Quilt, and snapshot builds are published as well.
Key features
Blocked sleep
Beds refuse sleep for players who meet the mod's conditions, so the night is not skipped by using them.
Data-driven messages
Messages are defined in data, and each can depend on world seed, bed position or day count.
Translation key rules
A JSON object with a translation key and a boolean value decides whether that key prevents sleep.
Modified spawn points
Setting a spawn point with a bed follows changed rules, so clicking a bed does not always set one.

Use cases
Who it’s for: Server owners and pack makers who want beds to behave differently from vanilla. The mod is a server-side tool, and it relies on the included resource pack for translated messages on the client.
