Here 'n' There

by TerminalMC

Typing a keyword such as here or there in chat inserts coordinates, and Here 'n' There provides the aliases that make this work on the client.

FabricNeoForgeClient-side onlyApache License 2.0Open source1.21 – 26.3

What it does

Here 'n' There inserts coordinates into chat messages or commands. A player types a keyword, then presses Tab, and the position is written into the text. The keyword is called an alias. By default, here produces the player's coordinates as x y z, and here, produces the same values separated by commas. There and there, do the same for the block the player is looking at.

A placeholder system extends the basic aliases. Placeholders such as %lpos% return the position of the targeted block, while %posd% returns the player's precise position as a three-dimensional decimal vector. Further values can be added as aliases, and the list of available placeholders may grow in later development. The mod is configured through a Cloth Config options screen, which opens from Mod Menu or the mod list.

Installation needs Cloth Config API and Mod Menu, both of which must be present alongside the mod. The mod is client-side only, so only the client needs it, and it is published for Fabric and NeoForge across 17 release versions, 1.21 – 26.3. The code is open source under the Apache License 2.0.

Key features

  1. Coordinate aliases

Keywords such as here and there expand to coordinates in space-separated or comma-separated form.

  2. Targeted block position

The there aliases return the coordinates of the block the player is looking at, not the player's own position.

  3. Placeholder system

Placeholders such as %lpos% and %posd% add more values that can be inserted by name.

  4. Tab completion

The alias is typed, then Tab replaces it with the coordinates, so no values need to be copied by hand.

  5. Configuration screen

An options screen lets players adjust the aliases and related settings without editing files.

Use cases

Sharing a location in chat

A player can send the coordinates of a base or landmark to other players with one keyword and a Tab press.

Writing commands

Coordinates can be inserted into commands such as teleport or setblock without reading the position from the debug screen.

Who it’s for: Players who often type coordinates in chat or commands on Fabric or NeoForge will find the aliases useful. Because the mod runs on the client, it is used by players in single-player or on servers that allow it.

How it compares

Full comparison

Command Aliases is a client or server mod that is optional on either side and is released under the MIT License, with files for 1.16.2 – 26.3. SimpleCoords is client-side only, open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later, and covers 1.21.1 – 26.3 on Fabric and NeoForge, so the two cover similar ground with different licenses.
