Hammering

by __Comma

Hammering adds hammer tools that act as multi-tools, and a Hammering enchantment that widens the area they break.

FabricNeoForgeQuiltClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.21 – 1.21.8

What it does

Hammers combine the functions of pickaxes, shovels, hoes and axes in one tool, so a single item can break stone, dirt, plants and wood. The mod adds Iron, Golden, Diamond and Netherite hammers, and a Hammering enchantment that can be put on them. Each enchantment level increases the broken area: level 1 covers a 3x3 face, and level 3 covers a 3x3x3 volume. Sneaking disables the enchantment, so a player can break a single block when needed.

Hammering is a client and server mod, so the server and every player need it. It requires Architectury API, Fabric API and Forge Config API Port, and it is released under the MIT License and is open source. Files exist for 1.21 – 1.21.8 across Fabric, NeoForge and Quilt, and the latest file for 1.21.8 is a beta build. Configured is listed as an optional companion for changing settings in-game. The mod is no longer updated, and its author points to Hammered as the successor on both Fabric and NeoForge.

Key features

  1. Multi-tool hammers

Each hammer works as a pickaxe, shovel, hoe and axe at once, so one tool covers several kinds of block.

  2. Four hammer tiers

Iron, Golden, Diamond and Netherite hammers are added, each with its own durability and breaking strength.

  3. Hammering enchantment

The enchantment widens the broken area, with three levels that grow from a 3x3 face to a 3x3x3 volume.

  4. Sneak to break one block

Holding sneak turns the enchantment off, so a single block can be broken without clearing the whole area.

Questions

Does Hammering need Fabric API on NeoForge?

No. Fabric API is required on Fabric and Quilt. On NeoForge, Architectury API and Forge Config API Port are the required dependencies listed for the mod.

Is Hammering still updated?

No. The mod is deprecated and will not receive updates. The author recommends Hammered, which replaces it on both Fabric and NeoForge.

Does the enchantment work with sneaking?

No. Sneaking disables the Hammering enchantment, so the tool breaks only the block being targeted.
