FlatSavanna
by Nikrecs
FlatSavanna reshapes savanna terrain into wide, low, buildable plains while leaving the rest of the world generated as vanilla Minecraft.
What it does
The mod pulls savanna biomes down to a low, level plain, so bases, farms and builds have room without digging or levelling. Hills, domes, plateaus and windswept or shattered relief inside savanna land are lowered smoothly into the flatland, and where savanna meets higher ground the slope ramps up gradually instead of forming an artificial cliff wall. Rivers, lakes and other water stay natural, and the result still looks like grassland that generated on its own.
Oceans, mountains, caves, ores, wet biomes and every other non-savanna area are left byte-for-byte identical to vanilla. Biome borders blend with neighbouring forests, deserts and plains, since the shaping fades across each edge in step with the climate values that already decide where biomes sit.
FlatSavanna is a server-side only mod, so players join without installing it. It is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 8 release versions, 1.19.2 – 26.3, and is released under the MIT License but is not open source. Its worldgen data adds little runtime overhead and can be added or removed on a world that is already generated, though chunks keep the shape they had.
Key features
Flat savanna plains
Savanna biomes are lowered into wide, level grassland with natural edges, suited to bases and farms.
Blended biome borders
The shaping fades out across biome edges in step with the climate values, so savanna blends into nearby biomes.
Vanilla features kept
Trees, villages and mobs are placed by vanilla generation after the terrain is shaped, and rivers and lakes stay natural.
Relief handled smoothly
Hills, domes and plateaus inside savanna land are cut or lowered, with gradual ramps where savanna meets higher ground.
Data-driven design
Only the savanna land changes shape, and the mod works alongside terrain and biome packs without a large runtime cost.

How it compares
Natural Temperature is server-side only, released under a custom license, and published for 1.20.1 – 26.3 on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge. Improved Village Placement is also server-side only, open source under the MIT License, and covers 1.20.1 – 26.2. FlatSavanna is a server-side only mod with MIT License terms that is not open source, for 1.19.2 – 26.3, so it targets a different part of world generation than either.

What the author says
Makes savannas generate flat — wide, level plains like real-world savannas — by gently lowering the hills, domes, plateaus and shattered terrain that vanilla scatters across them, while leaving the rest of the world exactly as vanilla. The result is open, buildable grassland that still looks naturally generated. How…
