Natural Temperature
by Caesius_Leo
Natural Temperature reshapes how biomes are placed, so the world follows a latitude-based layout that resembles Earth's climate zones.
What it does
Natural Temperature replaces the random patchwork of biomes in the overworld with a structured distribution. Cold biomes sit toward the north, warm biomes toward the south, and the arrangement follows latitude bands in the manner of Earth's climate zones. Icy biomes like Snowy Tundra and Ice Spikes fill the polar zones, and the cold zones hold taigas that have no snow cover.
The width of the generated world is set in a config file, and the values can be tuned to change how the bands are spread. Editing the file directly requires a save and a restart of Minecraft, while options exposed in the game GUI apply immediately. The author credits ImpulsiveLass for recalculating the exact values used by modes 5 and 6, and notes that mode 5 gives better results than mode 6 in most cases. The mod is server-side only, and it is released under a custom license that is not open source.
Key features
Latitude-based biome layout
Biomes are placed in bands by latitude rather than in a random patchwork, so each region has a consistent climate.
Climate zones by region
Temperate zones hold forests and plains with seasonal biomes, warm regions are covered by savannas and dry biomes, and equatorial regions are populated by jungles.
Configurable world width
A config file sets the world width, and the distribution modes can be adjusted to suit the map.
Immediate GUI settings
Options accessible through the game GUI take effect at once, while direct config edits need a save reload and restart.
