First-person Model
by tr7zw
Swaps the first-person arm and body model for the third-person player model, so the view from the camera shows a body rather than floating hands.
What it does
The first-person arm and body model is swapped for the third-person player model. When the player looks down, the body is visible, and third-person animations play in the first-person view. The mod changes no animations itself; animations that suit this view come from the required Not Enough Animations dependency. Installation also needs Fabric API, which is required as well.
Client-side only, the mod is accepted by servers without any change. It leaves the camera position unchanged. A key, F6, switches between the unmodified first-person view and this one, and a separate option decides which view applies based on the view angle or the held item.
Some mods that alter the player model in ways not expected by the base game may conflict, because the mod must hide the player head rendering. If the inside of the head is visible, an incompatible mod is probably active. Release files cover 32 versions, 1.16.5 – 26.3, for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, under the MIT License, and the project is open source.
Key features
Third-person model in first person
The third-person player model is used for the first-person perspective, so the body is visible in the view.
Visible body when looking down
Looking down shows the player's own body rather than an empty view, which matches what a person would see.
Third-person animations
Third-person animations play in the first-person view, with animation sets supplied by Not Enough Animations.
Toggle with F6
The F6 key switches between the unmodified first-person view and this implementation during play.
Held-item view selection
An option selects the unmodified or this implementation based on view angle or the held item.

How it compares
Extra Animations also runs client-side and is open source under the MIT License, but it is published for 1.21.7 – 26.3 on Fabric, NeoForge and Quilt, and it is not a first-person model. Who am I? is a client-side Fabric mod under the CC0 1.0 Universal license, with files for 1.19 – 26.2.
