EpicFight x First Person Model

by wmakar986w

EpicFight x First Person Model is a client-side compatibility patch that keeps the first-person body visible while Epic Fight's combat mode is active.

ForgeNeoForgeClient-side onlyAll rights reserved1.20.1 – 1.21.1

What it does

Epic Fight deliberately turns off the First Person Model mod's own ActivationHandler, so the first-person body stops rendering whenever a player is in Epic Fight mode. This patch cancels that registration and injects into Epic Fight's player renderer, so the body draws correctly from the first-person view.

The same patch hides the head and hat meshes of the player model in first-person view, which removes a camera clipping problem that otherwise appears up close. Both fixes are applied with mixins, so no separate configuration is needed in the mod folder. The 3D Skin Layers mod is optional and is named here only because it can be installed alongside.

The mod runs only on the client. It is published for Forge and NeoForge, with files for 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, the latest being 1.3 for 1.20.1 on Forge and 1.3 for 1.21.1 on NeoForge. It is not open source and is released under All rights reserved.

Key features

  1. Visible first-person body

Normal first-person display with full body visibility stays intact while Epic Fight mode is on.

  2. Epic Fight renderer injection

The mod injects into Epic Fight's player renderer so the body draws correctly from the first-person view.

  3. Head and hat meshes hidden

Head and hat meshes are hidden in first-person view, preventing camera clipping during close-up play.

  4. Mixin-based fixes

Both issues are fixed with mixins, with no separate configuration step needed for either fix.

Who it’s for: Players who run Epic Fight with the First Person Model mod and want the body and head rendering to look right in first-person view.

How it compares

Full comparison

Photon & EpicFight is a Forge mod for 1.20.1 that runs on client and server and is released under All rights reserved, so it is not open source. Third Person (F5) is client-side only, is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 1.21 – 26.2, and uses a custom license. This mod is client-side only as well, but it is a small patch for Forge and NeoForge on 1.20.1 and 1.21.1 rather than a third-person view.

What the author says

A small compatibility patch for EpicFight and First Person Model mods. EpicFight intentionally disables the First Person Model mod by registering its own ActivationHandler that blocks first-person body rendering whenever the player is in EpicFight mode. On top of that, the player's head and hat meshes are not hidden…
