Extra Alchemy

by zabi94

Extra Alchemy adds new potions and potion mechanics to the Fabric version of Minecraft Java Edition, with brewing stands that can run on heat and potions that work as vials or rings.

FabricClient and serverAll rights reserved1.16.3 – 1.21.1

What it does

The mod enlarges the brewing system with potions that are made in the vanilla Brewing Stand from vanilla items, and most come with splash, lingering and arrow forms. Some also take redstone or glowstone enhancements. Recipes can be looked up in-game with a recipe-viewer tool, and each potion recipe can be disabled separately in the config file. Not every potion has been ported to Fabric yet.

A config option lets a brewing stand run on a fire or any block made of fire or lava material placed beneath it, which is slower than blaze powder. Blaze powder still works. Heat sources and conductive blocks are set through the extraalchemy:heat source and extraalchemy:heat conductor tags, and the option can be switched off. Vials are a stackable potion item, up to 16 per stack, that apply their effect immediately when used, and an empty vial is crafted from a glass bottle recipe with a flint in the top-center slot.

Potion rings give a semi-persistent effect. An empty ring combined with a valid vanilla potion produces the matching ring, which reapplies the potion over time to the wearer. XP cost and renewal time are set separately for each potion, and new potions can be added through data-driven recipes that the server sends to the client on connection. The mod requires Fabric API, and Pehkui and Trinkets are optional. It is released under All rights reserved and is not open source.

Key features

  1. Extra brewing recipes

New potions are made in the Brewing Stand with ordinary ingredients, with splash, lingering and arrow forms.

  2. Heat-powered brewing stands

A fire or lava-type block under a brewing stand can power it, and the tags for heat sources and conductors are editable.

  3. Stackable vials

Vials hold up to 16 of a potion and apply the effect on use, crafted with a flint and a glass bottle recipe.

  4. Potion rings

Rings apply a potion over time, with per-potion XP cost, duration and renewal time set in the config or recipe files.

  5. Optional size potions

When Pehkui is installed, size-changing potions are added as well.
