NBT Tooltip

NBT Tooltip shows the NBT data of an item in its tooltip, so players working with tagged items can read the tags without a command.
What it does
Pressing F3+H activates the advanced tooltips, and the item's NBT tag appears inside the tooltip. Longer tags scroll automatically; holding SHIFT pauses the scroll and holding ALT speeds it up. Both the scroll rate and the cap on visible tag lines can be set.
The mod is a utility for map makers and mod developers who work with NBT data on items and tile entities. Several presentation formats are available for the tooltips, with the default format and a custom, human-readable, color-coded format that can be copied and edited in JSON. More toggling options are in the configuration menu, which server owners can reach through ModMenu while editing the configuration files.
Fabric API is required. Cloth Config API is bundled inside the mod, so nothing extra is needed for its settings screen. The mod is Fabric-only, runs with the environment set to client-side only, and files exist for 1.14 – 1.21.4 with 1.2.1 for 1.21.4 as the latest file, published 2024-12-11. It is released under All rights reserved and is not open source, though public links to the source code and issue tracker exist.

Who it’s for: Map makers, data pack authors and mod developers who need to read item NBT while building or testing. Server owners should note that some servers treat the mod as cheating, so checking with the admin before installing a client is advisable.
How it compares
Nbt Display is a Fabric, client-side only mod, open source under the MIT License, with files for 1.21.5 – 26.3, so it targets newer versions than NBT Tooltip.
