Elytra Overworld Restriction
by Arona74
Elytra Overworld Restriction limits how far an elytra can glide in chosen dimensions, while leaving the glider unchanged everywhere else.
What it does
Glide limits apply only in the dimensions set in the configuration, and the default settings keep normal elytra behavior in the Overworld. Any other dimension, including the End or a custom dimension, can be selected. Configuration changes are detected automatically and take effect right away, without restarting the game. The mod is built for Fabric on Minecraft 1.20.1 only.
Players who want a more grounded flight model can choose between the Classic Gliding and Realistic Gliding presets. Classic keeps the natural elytra physics without artificial speed restrictions and still allows powered flight. Realistic adds speed caps, momentum limits and a maximum horizontal speed of 0.6 blocks per tick, while upward momentum stays allowed. Core restrictions are always active, and optional restrictions are disabled by default.
Installation requires Fabric. The server runs the restrictions and needs the mod, while players may add it so the elytra can be hidden, and a server without players on the mod still works. The mod is released under the MIT License and is open source.
Key features
Dimension-based restrictions
Gliding limits are set per dimension, so the Overworld can stay normal while other dimensions are restricted.
Classic and Realistic gliding
A Classic preset keeps natural elytra physics, and a Realistic preset adds speed caps and momentum limits.
Rocket boost and takeoff rules
Rocket-powered boosts from fireworks can be blocked during flight, and ground takeoffs can require a jump before gliding starts.
Hidden elytra while not gliding
The elytra can be made invisible while the player is on the ground, falling or jumping, and the chestplate shows in its place.
Live configuration
Changes to the settings are detected and applied immediately without a restart.
Compatibility
