double-doors-lite

by kestalkayden

Double Doors Lite makes a door open together with the neighbouring door placed beside it, so a pair of doors swings like a real double door.

FabricNeoForgeServer-side onlyMIT LicenseOpen source26.1 – 26.3

What it does

When a player opens or closes one door, a door directly to its left or right that matches it in type and facing is switched in the same tick. Two doors placed side by side then move as a set, and the second leaf is not needed to be opened by hand. Doors that face opposite ways are paired too, and the mirrored swing sends the two leaves apart like a proper double door. Wooden and copper doors can be opened by hand, while iron doors are left untouched and respond only to redstone. Only the direct neighbour responds, so a long row of doors does not start a chain reaction.

The logic is lightweight and server-side, which keeps its overhead small in singleplayer and on multiplayer servers. It adds no items, recipes, blocks or world data, and it does not change how a door is crafted or dropped. The mod targets Fabric and NeoForge, with files for 26.1 – 26.3 and 26.2 among the release versions. Fabric needs a separate library to run, as listed below. The mod is open source under the MIT License and is server-side only, so players join without installing it.

Key features

  1. Paired door swing

Opening or closing one door also switches the adjacent door in the same tick, so the pair moves together.

  2. Mirrored leaves

Doors facing opposite ways pair up and swing symmetrically, with the two leaves opening apart as on a real double door.

  3. Neighbour-only response

Only the direct left or right neighbour of a clicked door responds, which prevents chains across a row of doors.

  4. Iron doors left alone

Iron doors ignore the pairing and remain controlled entirely by redstone, while wooden and copper doors stay hand-openable.

What the author says

Open one door and the door beside it opens too — just like a real set of double doors. Place two doors side by side, open one, and its neighbour swings open with it (and closes with it). The two leaves automatically mirror, so they swing apart like a proper double door instead of both swinging the same way.
