DitheringLib

by LopyMine

DitheringLib is a Library mod for the dithering effect, a shared code base for mods that draw dithered visuals on entities, items and particles.

What it does

Other mods in this family use DitheringLib as a shared base. Entity Dithering, Item Dithering and Particle Dithering each require it, and it supplies the common code they rely on, so each of them can apply the effect without duplicating the same logic. MossyLib is also required, and Fabric API must be present on Fabric.

The library also carries quick bug fixes across mods, which makes development of dithering-based content more convenient for the authors who build on it. Because the shared code keeps the individual mods in sync with one another, they stay compatible when installed together. It is installed on the player's side alone, so servers need nothing.

Files are published for Fabric and NeoForge, with 5 release versions covering 1.21.11 – 26.2, and the latest builds, 1.5.0+26.2 for both loaders, date from 2026-07-11. The mod is released under the Creative Commons Attribution No Derivatives 4.0 license and is not open source, although its source code and issue tracker are public.

Key features

  1. Shared dithering code

Provides the common routines that Entity Dithering, Item Dithering and Particle Dithering use to render the effect.

  2. Entity dithering support

Gives entity-based dithering mods a base to build on, so they need no separate copy of the effect logic.

  3. Quick bug fixes

Includes fixes that apply across the dependent mods, which keeps them working together without extra patches.
