With Distant thunders installed, a lightning strike is heard only after a delay that grows with the distance from the player.

What it does

The mod applies speed-of-sound physics to thunder, so a strike far away arrives later and sounds quieter than one nearby, instead of playing at full volume everywhere. It is client-side only: the server does not need it, and players on a server that lacks it hear the vanilla thunder. Architectury API, Fabric API and Mod Menu are required. Builds cover 1.18.2 – 26.2 on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, released under the MIT License, and the code is open source.
