Comforts

by TheIllusiveC4

Sleeping bags and hammocks let players rest anywhere in Comforts, and neither one changes where a player respawns.

FabricForgeNeoForgeQuiltClient and serverGNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or laterOpen source1.12.2 – 26.2

What it does

A sleeping bag works like a bed but stacks in inventory and suits travel. Using one does not set the player's spawn point, so a home base keeps its spawn. Sleeping bags come in 16 colors, and any bag can be dyed into another color.

Hammocks reverse the usual bed behavior: sleeping in one turns day into night. The hammock cloth can also be dyed into any of the 16 colors, and the author links a build guide. Comforts is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or later. Running it client and server, it requires Fabric API on Fabric and Quilted Fabric API or Quilt Standard Libraries on Quilt, and bundles Cardinal Components API.

Key features

  1. Portable sleeping bags

Sleeping bags can be stacked and carried, which makes them practical on expeditions away from a base.

  2. Spawn point kept intact

Using a sleeping bag or a hammock does not replace the player's spawn point, so a home base remains the respawn location.

  3. Hammocks that skip the night

A hammock turns day into night when a player sleeps in it, acting as an inverse of the bed.

  4. Dyeable items

Sleeping bags and hammock cloth take the 16 standard dye colors, and a dyed item can be recolored again.

  5. Auto-use and fatigue

Features such as Auto-Use Sleeping Bag, Well-Rested and Sleeping Bag Debuffs change how resting affects the player.

Use cases

Expeditions and adventure maps

A player can carry a stack of sleeping bags on a long trip and rest without moving the spawn point back to camp.

Building a home base

A fixed respawn at a base can be kept while sleeping in hammocks or bags at other locations, since neither item moves the spawn.

Who it’s for: Portable rest options suit players on long trips, and the hammock's night-skipping effect suits players who build them. Server owners who want spawn points left unchanged while players rest will also find the mod useful.

What the author says

Comforts is a mod that adds sleeping bags and hammocks to Minecraft. These items can be used just like beds except they do not set a player's spawn point on use, safely preserving a player's spawn point at their home base. Just like beds, they also come in 16 different colors! The difference is that sleeping bags can…
