ChunkLimiter
by Vecoo
ChunkLimiter caps how many blocks of chosen types a server allows inside each chunk, and it needs ExtraLib to run.
What it does
Server owners can set how many blocks each chunk may hold, which keeps crowded builds and block farms from overloading any single area of a world. The limit is applied per chunk, and the mod can also restrict blocks chosen through support block tags. Commands report the current limit per chunk to the player who runs them, which helps when checking why a placement was refused.
The mod works in single player as well as on multiplayer servers. ExtraLib is a required dependency and must be installed alongside it. Files exist for Forge only, across three game versions: 1.16.5, 1.19.2 and 1.20.1, with 1.3.1 for 1.20.1 as the latest file from 2025-03-04. ChunkLimiter is server-side only, and it is open source under the MIT License.
Key features
Per-chunk block limits
The number of blocks allowed in each chunk is set in the configuration, with a separate limit for each chosen block type.
Support block tags
Block tags can be used to select groups of blocks for limiting, instead of naming each block one by one.
Limit commands
Commands show the limit that applies to the current chunk, so players can see what is allowed before placing more blocks.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.

Use cases
Keeping dense builds in check
A server can cap the blocks in busy chunks so a few large builds do not slow the world down.
Limiting farms
Block farms can be restricted per chunk, giving the server owner a simple control over automated production.
Who it’s for: Server owners who want to cap block counts per chunk, and players on single player worlds who want the same limits for their own builds.
How it compares
Adjustable Sound Limit is Forge-only for 1.20.1 and client-side only, so it caps sounds on the player's machine rather than blocks in the world. Limit Far Spawn is Forge-only for 1.20.1 and runs on client and server, so both sides need it, and it is not open source. Mob Limiter is Forge-only for 1.20.1, server-side only and under the MIT License, like ChunkLimiter, but it limits mobs rather than blocks.
