ExtraLib

by Vecoo

Library for other mods, ExtraLib gathers shared utility classes, a thread timer, YAML and JSON loaders, database access and menu tools for developers.

What it does

ExtraLib provides helper code that other mods call rather than a feature players use directly. Its utility classes handle common tasks, a thread timer runs scheduled work, and loaders read and write YAML and JSON files, including asynchronous saving for configuration. Database access covers MySQL, MariaDB and PostgreSQL, and a UI module builds menus, forked from SGui.

Seven catalog mods require it, including ExtraQuests, LegendControl, MoveLearner, LegendControl-Defender and ExtraRTP, so it is installed whenever one of those is used. Server owners install it, and players connect with no copy of their own. Files exist for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, with builds covering 1.12.2 – 1.21.1 across five release versions. The latest Fabric and NeoForge files target 1.21.1, and the latest Forge file targets 1.20.1. The mod is released under the MIT License and is open source.

Development is public: the source code, issue tracker and wiki are linked from the project. The first release was published on 2024-08-14 and the most recent update on 2026-10-07, when version 3.2.2 shipped for all three loaders.

How it compares

Full comparison

Fabric Database H2 is a Fabric-only database option, licensed under the Mozilla Public License 2.0, and it covers 1.0 – 26.3; it works on either side, and neither the client nor the server needs it. Minecraft MySQL JDBC works on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt for 1.12.2 – 26.1.2 and is licensed under the GNU General Public License v2.0 only. ExtraLib's database module connects to MySQL, MariaDB and PostgreSQL inside one library, rather than offering a single database driver.
