Campfire Spawn and Tweaks

by Serilum

Players who respawn often can set a spawn point inside a campfire with Campfire Spawn and Tweaks, which also changes how the block behaves when placed, lit or doused.

FabricForgeNeoForgeQuiltServer-side onlyAll rights reserved1.16.5 – 26.3

What it does

Once a campfire is lit, the block marks a spawn point on its top surface. When the player respawns there, they receive 10 seconds of fire resistance by default, and that duration can be changed or turned off in the config. The spawn works in the overworld, the nether, the end and modded dimensions. A two-high air pocket is cleared above the campfire on respawn when blocks would otherwise stop the player from fitting.

Several block mechanics are altered. Sand, dirt or soul sand extinguish a campfire when used on it, flint and steel remove waterlogging, and clicking the side of a campfire no longer places fire on the adjacent block. Crouching and right-clicking a bed overrides the campfire spawn, while crouching and right-clicking a campfire removes it. New campfires can start unlit, and chat messages report when a spawn is set, unset, missing or overridden.

The mod is a server mod, so clients need nothing installed, and it requires Collective. Builds cover 1.16.5 – 26.3 for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and the code is not open source; it is released as All rights reserved.

Key features

  1. Campfire spawn points

Lighting a campfire marks a spawn point on top of it, and the player returns there after dying.

  2. Respawn fire resistance

Players who respawn inside a campfire receive a configurable period of fire protection, 10 seconds by default.

  3. Extinguishing and waterlogging

Sand, dirt, soul sand and flint and steel change a campfire's state without breaking the block.

  4. Spawn overrides

A bed can replace the campfire spawn, and crouching with a right click clears the campfire spawn point.

Questions

Does Campfire Spawn and Tweaks need Collective?

Yes. Collective is listed as a required dependency and must be installed alongside the mod on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge or Quilt.

Does a player need the mod installed to use campfire spawns?

No. The mod is server-side only, so a server running it works for players who have no mod installed.

Can the campfire spawn be turned off?

Yes. The config includes options to disable setting spawns by lighting campfires, to start campfires unlit, and to set the fire resistance duration to 0.

What the author says

Campfire Spawn and Tweaks adds the ability to set a spawn point inside a campfire and makes some changes to the mechanics around the block. By default you will receive 10 seconds of fire resistance on respawn, and be located on top of the campfire. It works for the overworld, nether and end, but also for modded…
