AutoMuteOnAfk

by Nikrecs

When the Minecraft window loses focus, AutoMuteOnAfk mutes the game and restores the exact previous volume once focus returns.

FabricForgeNeoForgeClient-side onlyMIT License1.19.2 – 26.3

What it does

Alt-tabbing to another app or stepping away from the keyboard sends the master volume to 0%, and the mod keeps the level it replaced. When the window regains focus, that stored value is reapplied unchanged. The saved level persists through world loads, menu screens and a disconnect, and a later AFK kick does not overwrite it. Volume already at 0% is left alone.

The mod is purely client-side: it changes only the game's own master volume and never affects the server or other players. A toggle hotkey, unbound by default under Options, Controls, Key Binds, switches the mod on or off and saves the new state. Architectury API is required alongside it, with Fabric API on Fabric. It works in singleplayer and multiplayer, and since the environment is client-side only, a server installation is not needed.

Key features

  1. Automatic mute on focus loss

Master volume drops to 0% when the game window is unfocused and returns when it is focused again.

  2. Exact volume restore

The previous volume level is stored and reapplied to the same value, not a rounded one.

  3. Optional action-bar messages

A setting shows short messages when the game is muted or restored, and can be turned off for silent operation.

  4. Toggle hotkey

A key binding enables or disables the mod in-game, and the new state is shown in the action bar.
