Auto Smelt 2 consumes coal from a player's inventory so that ores and food placed in it come out already smelted.

What it does

A data pack automatically uses coal from the player's inventory to smelt items as they are picked up. Usable fuels are coal, charcoal and coal block. Smelted items include ores and food, and a flag set on the player controls whether ore blocks are smelted at all, which is off by default.

Smelting one item costs 1 experience point. Three supported fuels can be consumed at the same time, so a coal block smelts 9 items at once and deducts 9 experience points. The server must run the mod, while players may leave it out, and Localization Resource Pack is required alongside it. The mod is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt across 16 release versions, 1.20.2 – 1.21.10, and the code is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later.

  1. Automatic inventory smelting

    Items placed in the inventory are smelted using coal already held by the player, without a furnace.

  2. Three fuel types

    Coal, charcoal and coal blocks are accepted, and several fuels are consumed in the same operation.

  3. Experience cost

    Each smelted item removes 1 experience point, so smelting has a visible cost to the player.

  4. Ore smelting toggle

    Ore blocks can be switched on or off with a single setting, and the default leaves them unsmelted.
