Authenticate
by Enaium
Authenticate is a server-side Fabric mod that lets players register accounts with passwords and log in before they can play on a server.
What it does
Players register an account with a password and sign in with it on later visits, so unauthorized access to a server is harder. The mod also covers basic account management: a player can log out, and server administrators can ban players. Account and ban records are kept in an H2 database, which stores them as persistent data between restarts.
The mod is built on Fabric Language Kotlin and Fabric ORM Jimmer for its database operations, and needs Fabric Database H2 and Fabric API as well. Because it runs only on the server, players join without installing anything. Files are published for Fabric across 19 release versions, 1.7.10 – 26.3, and snapshot builds are published too, with 26.3-1.1.1 for 26.3 as the latest file.
Key features
Password registration
Players create an account by registering a password, which the server then checks on each login.
Login verification
Logins are verified against the stored password before a player is allowed onto the server.
Logout
A player can end a session by logging out of the account.
Ban management
Server administrators can ban players, keeping them off the server without removing their records.
Persistent storage
Accounts and bans are written to an H2 database so they survive server restarts.

Use cases
Protecting a public server
A server owner who wants to keep unregistered players from joining as existing accounts can require registration and login.
Managing bans
Administrators who need to block particular players can use the ban feature from the same mod.
Who it’s for: Server owners who run a Fabric server and want players to register and log in with passwords. Players do not need to install anything on their own clients.
How it compares
Simpler Auth is a Fabric server-side mod under the MIT License, published for 1.16.5 – 1.19. combo Auth is also Fabric and server-side, under the MIT License, with files for 1.7.5 – 1.21. Auto Login is client-side only and open source under the MIT License, for 1.21.11 – 26.3, so it runs on players' clients rather than the server.
