Simpler Auth
by dqu1j
Simpler Auth gives a Fabric server its own login system, so players must register and log in before they can act in the world.
What it does
Until a player logs in, the server blocks chat, block breaking and placing, item throwing, moving, rotating and inventory changes. Players can register a new account, log in, and change their password, with separate global and local password types and regex checks on usernames and passwords. Logins are also limited to one location at a time, and player positions can be hidden from others.
Server owners can make online authentication optional or forced, set the minimum permission level needed for admin commands, and manage two-factor authentication through a command. Two-factor mode can be restricted to only 2FA passwords. Messages come in multiple languages. The mod runs on the server alone, so players join without installing it, and it needs Fabric API. Published for 1.16.5 – 1.19 under the MIT License, it is open source.
Key features
Account registration and login
Players create an account with a password and log in each session before the server lets them play.
Two-factor authentication
A command lets players and admins set up two-factor authentication, and 2FA-only password mode can be enforced.
Action restrictions before login
Chat, block changes, item throwing, movement and inventory edits stay locked until the player is authenticated.
Optional online authentication
Server owners can turn on online checks, or require them for every player, with a configurable permission level for admin commands.

Use cases
Protecting an offline-mode server
A server that cannot rely on account checks can use its own registration and login flow to keep players from acting as someone else.
Hiding player positions
Position hiding keeps the location of logged-in players out of view for others, which suits servers that want less exposure.
Who it’s for: Server owners running Fabric servers who want their own registration, login and two-factor setup. Players only need the server to accept them, since the mod is server-side only.
How it compares
