Apples++ turns the apple into a set of food items, each with its own potion effects, from the Iron Apple to the Netherite Apple.
What it does
The mod adds many kinds of apple and apple-based items. Iron, Diamond, Notch and Copper Apples each apply a timed potion effect when eaten, and several of them carry drawbacks such as lost max health or Hunger. Orange Apple and Pineapple work as plain food, and Red Carrot is also a regular food source.
Beyond eating, the mod includes a Saddlemet that other players can mount while it is worn, an Apple Stick that steers a ridden player, and Apple Ingots and Nuggets used in crafting. A Bucket Apple holds apple juice that can be placed as a sticky block, and Lapis Apple variants shift enchantment levels on random items.
Apples++ is published for Fabric and Quilt for 1.21.8 only, with the same 1.0 file on both loaders. Servers that run it need every player to install it too. The code is not open source; the mod is released under All rights reserved, though its source code is public.

Lapis Apple variants add or remove enchantment levels on a random item in the inventory, and remove 5 experience levels when eaten.

Copper Food is a Fabric mod for 1.21.9 under the MIT License, and it is open source. Legacy Notch Apple Crafting is available on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt for 1.21 – 26.2, but it is server required with client optional and is not open source. Green Apple is a Fabric mod for 1.21.4 – 1.21.9 with the same client and server environment, and it is not open source.
