AFKTape
by SamIsPoggers
AFKTape lets a player hold a key or mouse button down without keeping a finger on it, which suits long walks, boat trips and farm tasks.
What it does
The mod simulates taping down a chosen button, so a movement or action key stays held while the game runs. A key can be bound to the hold in the controls settings, and the held input continues while the player is away from the keyboard. Holding a button also keeps working when a menu or inventory screen is open, and the hold can be released again at any time.
AFKTape is client-side only: only the player's game needs the mod, and a server runs without it. It is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, Quilt, Legacy Fabric and Ornithe across 16 release versions, 1.8.9 – 26.3. The mod's code is under All rights reserved and is not open source, though its source code is publicly available. Its required dependencies are Ornithe Standard Libraries and YetAnotherConfigLib (YACL), and Mod Menu is optional.
The original mod was made by Kokeria and covered earlier releases. This project carries the idea forward and ports it to newer releases, so the behavior is aimed at keeping vanilla gameplay intact rather than automating it.
Key features
Held key simulation
A chosen key or mouse button is kept pressed, so a long walk or boat ride needs no input from the player.
Rebindable hold key
The key that starts and stops the hold can be changed in the controls settings.
Input kept during menus
A held button stays active while a pause menu or inventory screen is open, and the player can return to the game afterwards.
Cursor freed
Once a button is held, the player can release the cursor and use other programs on the computer.
