Animatica
Animatica loads animated textures written in the MCPatcher and OptiFine format into a Fabric or Quilt game, with no other changes to the game.
What it does
The mod reads the MCPatcher and OptiFine animated texture format and plays those textures in the game. It handles several texture categories, and animated blocks and items are already part of vanilla Minecraft and are not handled by this mod.
Installation happens on the player's client only, so a server does not need the mod. The mod depends on Fabric API and runs on the Fabric and Quilt loaders. Files target 1.17 – 1.21.6 across 23 versions, and the latest file is 0.6.1+1.21.5 for 1.21.6, dated 2025-06-22. Licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, it is open source, with public source code and an issue tracker.

How it compares
OptiGUI covers fully custom GUIs and is available for Fabric and Quilt, while Animatica only handles animated textures. [ETF] Entity Texture Features and Continuity also run on Forge and NeoForge, and [EMF] Entity Model Features adds custom entity models and model part animations in 3D, which Animatica does not provide. All of these are client-side only and open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or later for OptiGUI and v3.0 only for the others.
