OptiGUI
by opekope2
OptiGUI loads custom GUI textures from resource packs on Fabric and Quilt, and it also reads the GUI files that OptiFine resource packs provide.
What it does
GUI textures are applied from resource packs, and the mod includes built-in support for OptiFine GUI resource packs, so such packs work without OptiFine installed. The project describes its texture handling as fast. Its performance impact is described as small, though it depends on which resource packs are loaded.
Published for the Fabric and Quilt loaders with builds covering 1.18 – 26.3, the project relies on Quilt loading Fabric mods for Quilt support. Fabric API and Fabric Language Kotlin are required, and Animatica is an optional dependency. Only the client needs the mod, and the license is GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or later, so the mod is open source. Source code, an issue tracker and a wiki are linked.
Key features
OptiFine GUI packs
Reads custom GUI textures from OptiFine resource packs without needing OptiFine itself.
Resource pack textures
GUI textures come from resource packs, so they can be swapped by enabling a pack.
Mixin ordering
OptiGUI's mixins are applied before OptiFine's, so custom GUIs can be turned off in OptiFine to avoid duplicate work.

Use cases
Resource pack creators
Authors of resource packs who write OptiGUI 3 JSON resources can use the 3.x alpha line, which supports only Fabric and Quilt.
Players using OptiFine packs on Fabric
On a Fabric or Quilt client, OptiGUI can take the place of OptiFine's GUI handling for OptiFine GUI packs.
How it compares
Animatica is also client-side only, open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, and published for Fabric and Quilt across 1.17 – 1.21.6, so it covers an older version range than OptiGUI. Animatica Refabricated targets Fabric only, for 1.21.8 – 26.3, under the same license. CTM Selector is a Fabric client mod for 1.19.4 – 1.21.11 under the GNU General Public License v2.0 only, so its license differs from OptiGUI's.
